Courses

Our program is unique in that it offers several paths to the completion of a degree. The Master of Arts in Educational Technology (MAET) Program is only available under Plan B (without thesis). The student must complete a total of 30 credits.

Many students choose to start the Master’s program as a Lifelong Education/Graduate Certificate student with the three courses (9 graduate credits) of the Educational Technology Certificate Program:

CEP 810: Teaching for Understanding with Technology

CEP 811: Adapting Innovative Technologies in Education

CEP 812: Applying Educational Technology to Issues of Practice

Following completion of the Certificate Courses, students must apply to the Master of Arts in Educational Technology Program. Once accepted, the Certificate Courses seamlessly transfer into the student’s program plan. After being admitted to the program, students meet with his/her advisor to devise a program plan outlining a schedule of courses. Students typically complete the degree within a 2 year time period.

The following core courses must be on your transcript to confer an MAET degree:

CEP 800: Learning in School and Other Settings

CEP 822: Approaches to Educational Research

CEP 807: Proseminar in Educational Technology

Many students choose to pursue the courses in the NP Endorsement sequence as their MAET program plan.  Others choose courses based upon career goals and interests.  Below you will find a listing of all MAET elective courses (including the Certificate courses.)
