We are excited to announce that starting Summer 2013, the MAET program at MSU will be offering a new online certificate program! Just like our existing Certificate in Educational Technology, our new certificate in Online Teaching and Learning can be completed as a stand-alone set of courses and used as an on-ramp the the full MAET degree program. If you are already enrolled in the MAET program, you may bundle the new certificate into your existing coursework.
The Graduate Certificate in Online Teaching and Learning will prepare individuals to design and teach online courses. Students learn to apply the latest theories of learning and pedagogy and also acquire skills with multimedia and networking tools to create online learning environments. It will prepare students to:
♦ Understand the emerging field of online teaching and its essential differences from face-to-face teaching;
♦ Understand the affordances offered by online resources, technologies, and online teaching;
♦ Practice the use of various applications to enhance online learning;
♦ Develop strategies to foster student collaboration and communication within a global community;
♦ Comprehend the broad concept of digital citizenship and its implications, including ethical and safe practices in online learning and universal design for learning.
The Graduate Certificate in Online Teaching and Learning is 9-credits and consists of the following courses:
CEP 813 – Electronic Portfolios
CEP 817 – Learning Technology by Design
CEP 820 – Teaching Online
